Topic- Fabric - Wrap and Weft a Tapestry

Objective: To ………
·       define fabrics
·       describe the process of making cotton and silk fabrics in ancient civilizations
·       explain how different types of fabrics led to the development of trade and trade routes (e.g. Silk Route)
·       elucidate the importance of Khadi fabric in Indian history
·       describe the different artificial fabrics made in modern times
·       make a timeline of discovery of different tools/machines used to make fabrics

Materials Required:
1.     Books and website links related to the topic.
2. OpenOffice Writer should be installed on all computers in Computer lab
3. Information related to the topic
4. Image files related to the topic. (GIF, PNG or JPEG format)

Procedure:
Divide the students into groups.
open OpenOffice Writer and  type the following collected information in a new document:
1.     definition of fabric
2.     the process of making cotton and silk fabrics in ancient civilizations
3.     how different types of fabric led to the development of trade and trade routes (e.g. Silk Route)
4.     the importance of Khadi fabric in Indian history
5.     different artificial fabrics made in modern times
6.  make a timeline of discovery of different tools/machines used to make fabrics using tables and/or various shapes in OpenOffice Writer
7.  Divide the subtopics by using appropriate headings and subheadings
8.  Make use of images to make the document colourful.
9.  Save your file and take a print using a colour printer.
